Job Description: The MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking

highly motivated individuals to fill full-time, permanent positions of Recovery Outreach Specialists. The Recovery Outreach Specialists report to the Addiction Medicine Program Lead and work as an integral member of the MLTC Addiction Medicine Program.

The Recovery Outreach Specialists provide holistic, community-based nursing care

within MLTC communities to support individuals living with substance use disorders, including those with concurrent mental health conditions and co-occurring communicable or chronic diseases. This position plays a key role in delivering comprehensive addiction medicine services, including opioid agonist therapy (OAT), harm reduction initiatives, and strengthened continuity of STBBI care.

This role bridges clinical nursing practice and community-based outreach, prioritizing flexible, relationship-based care for individuals experiencing barriers to traditional health services. Care is delivered in a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented manner, grounded in dignity, respect, and hope.

Education

• Advanced Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Practical Nursing

Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing.
• Experienced in working in northern First Nation communities. 
• Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and complex social needs.
• Proficiency in motivational interviewing, supportive counselling, crisis intervention, and case management.

Licenses

• Current registration in good standing, or eligibility for registration, with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS).
• Current registration in good standing, or eligibility for registration, with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Saskatchewan (CLPNS).  

Knowledge and Abilities

• Ability to speak/understand Cree/Dene and cultural competence is considered a valuable asset. 
• Ability to travel extensively and possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
• Demonstrate capability and performance in the areas of: working with minimal supervision, excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, initiative and adaptability, prioritizing multiple demands, working independently.
• Required Personal Characteristics: Trustworthy and respectful, approachable and accessible, flexible, collaborative.
• Willingness to travel and possession of a valid driver’s licence.
