JOB SUMMARY

As a Junior Buyer, you will assist the Lead Buyer in product management, ensuring coding, tracking orders, and updating information in the system. You will work closely with suppliers and the distribution department to optimize stock levels and assortment, while monitoring market trends. You will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of processes and contributing to the success of the company across all its banners

You are an organized, dynamic and detail-oriented person with an ability to work in a team and multitask. You have a good sense of analysis and an ability to anticipate market needs and react quickly to fluctuations. You are also comfortable with IT systems and enjoy collaborating with various departments to ensure efficient operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the buyer (mainly in private labels) in the coding of products, follow-up with the DC, the finance department, customs brokers and suppliers, and in the authentication of system information
  • Order entry and tracking
  • Work with the Master Buyer to further optimize stock levels and product assortment in each banner, to maximize sales and minimize inventory investment
  • Ensure regular maintenance of Great Plains system information
  • Work closely with our DC to optimize the time it takes to receive merchandise
  • Update files after analysis and follow-up of changes made to inventory products (prices, status, returns, orders, etc.)
  • Monitor industry trends and competition, so that you can assess and respond to market fluctuations
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all suppliers, to ensure that GVNL has access to information that is up-to-date and accurate, on new releases and styles of trends, and all marketing and training materials to facilitate sales
  • Work with the planning team to analyze data that will help drive the business forward across all banners
  • Perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards and standards
  • Assist your supervisor and colleagues in carrying out all of their activities, when necessary
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities related to his/her duties and responsibilities as requested by his/her immediate supervisor.

SKILLS

  • Srong understanding of the industry and the relationships between suppliers, retailers and consumers
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and meticulous skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build relationships
  • Interest in fashion and trends

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in retail would be an asset
  • Bilingualism (French/English) essential
  • Available to travel to the United States, Asia, or Europe for about a week two or three times a year
