About the role

  1. Position Summary and Job Magnitude
  • The Accounting Clerk reports to the Accounting Supervisor and completes accounts payable, receivable, and administrative tasks. The Accounting Clerk is well-organized, pays attention to detail and is capable of working under minimal supervision.
  1. Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Accounts Payable

  • Assist Property Accountants with the following:
  • Accurate and timely processing of invoices for suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Cash disbursements for invoices, as well as student refunds, petty cash re-imbursements and other cheque requisitions as requested.

Accounts Receivable

  • Assist Property Accountants with the following:
  • Recording Cash Receipts.
  • Recording returned items, bank charges and other such items as required.
  • Updating and Reconciliation of bank statements and spreadsheets.
  1. Other Duties
  • Assist Property Accountants with the following:
  • General Journals/ Recurring Journals to be made to maintain accurate financial reports.
  • Maintaining spreadsheets with regards to prepaid, accruals, Property accounts and other such accounts.
  • Assist Property Accountants with administrative duties such as filing, cheque runs, and other such duties as necessary
  • Other duties that may arise in order to complete required financial reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor/Director of Finance.
  1. Qualifications

Education:· Accounting courses in progress or completion an asset.

Skills/Abilities:

    • Computer literacy and experience utilizing Microsoft applications.
    • Strong organizational, communications, and customer service skills; verbal & written.
    • Accounting experience an asset.
