The Clinical Director is responsible for leadership in strategic program visioning, planning, resource allocation, service excellence and quality improvement for the assigned portfolio of in-patient, out-patient, clinical support or diagnostic services. The Director acts as a strong advocate for the Mission, Vision and Values of the Hospital. Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Services, the Clinical Director works with other members of the Management Team and Physician leaders to create an environment for innovation and excellence in patient centered care.

REQUIREMENTS**:**
Education

Member of a Regulated Health Profession related to assigned portfolio

Minimum of a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or other related field
-
Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 years of progressive managerial experience in a clinical medical or rehabilitation setting
-
Minimum of 5 years of progressive supervisory experience in an acute care setting
-
Experience working with unions and union contracts
-
Experience with all aspects of business management, including management of contracts and service agreements and managing complex budgets,
Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of computerized applications and programs
-
Quality, safety and service orientation – demonstrated evidence of ability to monitor and improve quality and safety
-
Strategic thinking and results orientation – demonstrated ability to plan actions to achieve organizational goals and objectives

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides leadership and direct supervision to Clinical Managers, ensuring clarity of expectations, ongoing coaching, performance oversight, and consistent alignment with organizational standards and strategic priorities
-
Directs all nursing and allied health functions, processes and activities of the Hospital and Clinical Programs cluster
-
Establishes program goals that are consistent with the organizational goals within the assigned program grouping
-
Acts decisively to translate organizational strategies into concrete plans
-
Assembles required resources and delegates responsibility to subordinates
-
Provides structure while allowing individual autonomy and initiative with the aim of supporting professional and personal growth and development
-
Interprets trends, recognizes and manages complexity
-
Recognizes the relationship between issues and uses information to develop short and long term strategies
-
Manages multiple problems and issues from a day to day and a broader perspective
-
Collaborates with colleagues towards developing consensual solutions
-
Recognizes the various contributions of others and recognizes the need to seek expertise

- o Prompt investigation of adverse events including near misses
- o Actions are undertaken to prevent recurrence of adverse events
- o Information is communicated to individuals at interface points, including shift change, transfer of care to other units and movement between facilities
- o Compliance with institutional policies related to patient safety and quality

Performs other duties as assigned by higher authority, which are unplanned, or of a transient nature and are consistent with the above job purpose and duties
