Role Overview
UPharmacy is seeking an experienced Compounding Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in the compounding lab at our clinical pharmacy. We are a locally owned pharmacy who take pride in providing personalized care to our patients. Our environment is designed to support our team members and allow for opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Role Objectives
The Compounding Pharmacy Assistant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Medication Management:
- Accept new prescriptions and gather the required customer information.
- Prepare prescriptions that are new or refills
- Create and maintain computerized patient record.
- Document changes to prescriptions on authorization from the original prescriber.
- Enter prescription order into dispensing system.
- Verify that each patient receives the correct prescription.
- Ensuring that inventory is appropriately stocked and ordered as required
- Compounding experience or training (including sterile compounding) is required
- This position involves leadership, supervision of others, time management, coordinating orders and compounds with a team of 4-5 assistants
Customer Service:
- Communicate clearly with patients, peers, and other health care professionals using effective and appropriate communication skills.
- Advise the pharmacist of all vital information/alerts encountered during the prescription filling process.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Make corrections in patient records when required.
- Accept requests for refills in person and via telephone
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy counter, shelves, and dispensing equipment.
Role Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher
- Pharmacy assistant: 1 year (preferred)
- Computer proficiency in Kroll
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Takes initiative
- Excellent phone manner, speaks clearly and professionally
- Strong attention to details
- Complex compounding skills required
- Organized and competent in multi-tasking
