Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Lead the monthly, half-year, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to IFRS.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
  • Oversee complex financial accounting areas including warranty provisions, inventory reserves, accruals, and other significant estimates requiring judgment.
  • Maintain full compliance with Canadian statutory reporting obligations and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Oversee and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance processes.
  • Manage fixed assets, revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and costing models.
  • Coordinate intercompany reconciliations and reporting within Halma’s group environment.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making, operational efficiency, and cost control.
  • Partner with department leaders to interpret results, monitor KPIs, and support business case development.

Treasury, Tax & Regulatory

  • Oversee cash management, banking relationships, working capital optimization, and cash forecasting.
  • Coordinate corporate tax filings with external advisors and ensure compliance with CRA and IRS requirements.
  • Review tax filings for Chilean legal entity and approve filing with the SII.
  • Administer Canadian indirect taxes (HST/GST) and support U.S. sales tax compliance activities, including implementation of Avalara tax for U.S. sales tax automation and compliance.
  • Develop processes for monitoring U.S. state nexus and sales-tax obligations; liaise with external compliance providers.

Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and optimize financial workflows within the ERP environment.
  • Serve as a key contributor in ERP implementation or expansion projects; experience with Odoo is an asset.
  • Lead process-improvement initiatives across finance, purchasing, operations, and reporting functions.
  • Support the development of automated and scalable reporting through Excel, PowerQuery, and Power BI.

Statutory and Statistical Filings

  • Manage all Canadian and U.S. statistical and governmental reporting obligations, including recurring Statistics Canada surveys, industry reporting, and U.S. economic census-related filings as applicable.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all required statistical returns.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather required operational, sales, and production data.
  • Maintain documentation and controls to support auditability and compliance with federal and state/provincial data-reporting standards.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor and oversee finance team members, providing guidance on accounting best practices.
  • Establish performance measurement standards and support professional development, ensuring continuous upskilling of the finance team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, supply chain, and engineering teams.
  • Uphold a strong culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including demonstrated experience with PowerQuery.
  • Experience leading month-end close processes, audit preparation, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of inventory, costing, and manufacturing workflows.

Preferred & Asset Qualifications

  • Experience with U.S. sales-tax administration and multi-state nexus compliance.
  • Experience with ERP systems; exposure to Odoo is a significant asset.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and data-model development considered an advantage.
  • Experience in intercompany reporting within a public-company or multinational environment.
  • Familiarity with Tagetik or similar consolidation tools for intercompany eliminations and group reporting.
  • Experience working within a decentralized group structure, ideally in a publicly traded global organization.
