As a Research Partnerships Consultant - Post Secondary Institutions (PSI), you will serve as the primary liaison for partnerships with post-secondary institutions, focusing on identifying, developing, and managing opportunities for collaborative research projects. A key objective is to ensure shared outcomes are embedded in research projects. You will play a key role in developing new partnerships, onboarding post-secondary institutions, further developing the existing programs, building a robust pipeline of projects, advancing awareness of the program, fostering connections, and reporting on the progress and impact of PSI research relationships. Primary duties include:

• Lead business development efforts within the organization to build awareness of value of collaborative research.
• Identify and build a pipeline of potential research projects.
• Facilitate connections between City subject matter experts and researchers, coordinating and supporting current and proposed relationships between The City and post-secondary institutions (e.g., Urban Alliance). Identify and build strong relationships with key subject matter experts.
• Analyze and coordinate requests for participation in established post-secondary programs, reviewing proposals, coordinating with the Corporate Data Contracts Specialist, developing terms of reference, and coordinating among other business units to ensure programs are working optimally.
• Design, coordinate, and attend, including public speaking, to larger groups (100+ participants), events that highlight complex multi-faceted problems that cities face.
• Identify and coordinate other similar community partnerships with educational institutions that leverage City resources and subject matter experts to support innovative programming that benefits Calgarians. This includes identifying and securing resources to implement programming.
• Advance and continue to develop, coordinate and support current partnerships and apply learnings to new and developing partnerships.
• Track projects, investments, announcements from other orders of government to identify opportunities and trends for advancing the program.
• Coordinate input into corporate strategic initiatives, policy work, and business planning processes to identify opportunities that support the goals of post-secondary partnerships.
• Be an advocate and ambassador for the post-secondary partnerships and report on measured progress, and impact on a regular basis using both analytical data and storytelling.

Qualifications

• A completed 2-year diploma in Business, Management, Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Marketing, or a related field and at least 5 years of experience related to economic development, community partnerships, planning, strategy, or related area; OR
• A degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Marketing, or a related field and at least 3 years of related experience as noted above.
• Experience managing projects, reporting on and performance measures development and tracking is beneficial.
• A strong understanding of municipal services and programs is considered an asset.
• Competencies required for this role include: Strong communication skills; public speaking; facilitation and organization skills; excellent planning and execution; diplomacy and tact when dealing with competing interests; and ability to build effective relationships.
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups to achieve shared goals.
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy to drive execution, while bringing together internal and external partners.
