Tsilhqot’in – River People

The Yunesit’in School is looking adventurous Grade 3 – 5 Teacher who is passionate about culture, outdoor learning and holistic child development approaches that emphasize healthy living. Our school is small but collaborative and supportive. You’ll be one of four teachers who work together in multi-grade classes to build our greatest resource: our children. We support this by offering a safe, positive and respectful environment for our teachers and children, as well as ensuring that you have top notch professional development and personalized coaching to help you build your skills.”
Yunesit’in School is a band-operated school, located in The Chilcotin region of British Columbia about an hour and a half west of Williams Lake. Yunesit’in First Nation has a population of 417 people. Yunesit’in School is a K-8 school with a growing enrollment The school itself is of unique architectural design and with half size gymnasium. Taking its inspiration from the traditional pit house, the community school is beautifully framed by the quaint country village of Yunesit’in, outdoor hockey rink and rolling hayfields where the community’s horses roam free and sometimes mingle with the wild horse population.

Yunesit’in School offers a competitive salary (matching local School districts depending on qualifications and experience) and a benefit package that includes (extended medical, dental) and vacation pay, housing, moving, travel subsidies. We also ensure that all of our Teachers are provided with ongoing professional development opportunities through the FNSA.

Duration: Start date Mid-August. This is a contract Teaching Positions with scheduled work hours will be 8:00—4:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Eight (7.5) hours per day and thirty hours per week.
