About this role:

The Strategic Initiatives Manager will proactively identify, plan, and execute initiatives to drive business growth, profitability, and network outcomes in Canada Logistics with the goal to grow the business, drive profitability, and improve network outcomes. They will own multiple concurrent initiatives, setting strategy and ensuring alignment with overall Logistics goals. Responsibilities include defining, communicating, measuring, and improving market OKRs, collaborating with the Global team to advocate for local success, and leveraging a strong understanding of Logistics for recommendations.

The ideal candidate excels at strategic thinking, data analysis, and prioritizing multiple tasks. They possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to articulate recommendations, promote vision at the executive level, and motivate partners. Finally, they will be a Logistics thought-leader, staying updated on market trends to identify opportunities and contribute to global best practices.

Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from our Toronto office & 2 days working from home

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives - Logistics

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

  • Proactively identify, scope and lead multiple new projects & strategies to drive Logistics’ strategic objectives. Examples could include initiatives like pay strategies, go-to-market plans for new business lines, or customer experience enhancements.
  • Take accountability for end-to-end project outcomes, keeping others informed of risks & progress. Be the business lead on projects through pilot, MVP, roll-out and post-mortems. Note that larger projects would most often be supported by a dedicated project manager.
  • Analyze data and build business cases to drive new initiative recommendations and help inform prioritization of your projects.
  • Define & deliver your program success metrics, demonstrating alignment with overall Skip OKRs and Logistics strategic vision.
  • Advise senior leadership on recommendations by providing business insights. Synthesize your findings into clear recommendations for leadership to support.
  • Influence Product & Tech teams to prioritize & develop solutions based on the market’s needs. Understand what’s coming down the product pipeline to inform the market roadmap.
  • Stay current with industry developments to drive benchmarking, innovation and continuous improvement. Be a thought leader and contribute to global best practices & roadmaps.

What will you bring to the table?

  • Analytical skills and financial acumen to develop business cases to estimate investment returns, compare potential options, develop recommendations, and prioritize problems.
  • You have experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders across business groups and global locations.
  • Passion for solving problems through out-of-the-box thinking; you use creativity and grit to navigate new challenges
  • You can translate high-level visions into tactical plans, and are not afraid to roll-up your sleeves to understand the more technical aspects of our network
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and strategies to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to collaborate & influence effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive alignment and achieve common goals.
  • You possess exceptional data mining skills, and by combining precision with intuition, you can achieve swift progress.
  • Experience in a commercial management role, e.g. Strategy, P&L ownership, Finance
  • High preference for direct experience with independent contractor models
  • Experience working with on-demand delivery or supply chain is an asset
  • MBA or equivalent work experience with a Bachelor’s degree
