Over the past two years, the firm has completed over $250M of transactions with the intention of creating a $1B+ real estate fund over the next 2-3 years. By working with government leaders, and by partnering with our sponsors and lenders, the company’s vision is to create 10,000+ residential units with a focus on tackling the affordable housing crisis in North America. We are currently putting together a stellar team that will help achieve this goal.

Overview

The Director of Asset Management will lead the execution of asset strategies across the firm’s portfolio to maximize performance, value creation, and investor returns. This individual will play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence, improving the tenant experience, and ensuring that each asset meets or exceeds its financial and strategic objectives, including through on-site presence and engagement.

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, collaborative, and eager to grow within a fast-moving, hands-on environment. They will be comfortable taking ownership, making decisions with imperfect information, hiring and managing on-site staff and contractors, and contributing to the ongoing scaling of the business while maintaining excellent tenant experience .

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Oversight

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive asset plans and investment strategies to achieve target returns
  • Evaluate financial and operational performance against plans with real-time data; identify underperformance drivers and implement corrective action
  • Oversee and improve the tenant experience, with a focus on developing and implementing strategies to reduce churn

Operational & Financial Management

  • Oversee creation and execution of annual operating and capital budgets in alignment with asset plans
  • Build operational excellency through process improvement & SOP development
  • Direct and manage in-house and 3rd party property management and marketing partners to ensure alignment with asset objectives, including periodic on-site audits
  • Review and approve leasing, capital expenditure, and major operating initiatives
  • Conduct financial analyses, sensitivity tests, and return-on-investment assessments

Leadership & Growth

  • Mentor, train, and develop analysts and asset managers; build a high-performing, accountable team culture
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leasing to enhance systems, reporting, and operational capabilities
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives focused on scaling processes and institutionalizing best practices

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate asset management (mid-market, multifamily-residential experience preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Economics, or related field;
  • Proven track record of maximizing asset performance and executing value-add or repositioning strategies
  • Strong financial acumen with deep understanding of property-level and portfolio-level metrics
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and success managing cross-functional internal and external teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Yardi and other asset management tools
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and highly motivated to grow with the organization
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
