Description Job Description Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Behaviour Therapist.
The assignment is providing care to patients with the Forensic Program. This unit will provide specialized services for adults with complex behaviours, who are currently in an acute care hospital and require specialized mental health care treatment. This program will provide assessment, stabilization, treatment and management of behaviours with the goal of community reintegration. The goal of treatment will be to stabilize patients so that they can successfully transition to a lesser secure setting or community setting.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED & PREFERRED:
- Post graduate diploma or degree from a recognized college or university such as a diploma in Behaviour Analysis or a related field i.e. Behavioural Science Technology (3 years advanced), or a related undergraduate degree with emphasis on applied Behaviour analysis working toward these qualifications, with clinical experience implementing intensive Behavioural programs for adolescents and adults with autism
- Minimum of two years direct clinical experience implementing intensive Behavioural interventions (IBI)is preferred.
- Direct clinical experience implementing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) preferred
- Board Certified Assistant Behavioural Analyst (BCaBA) preferred
- Ability to train others in ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) principles an asset
- Thorough knowledge of behavioral programming involving data collection, data tracking, graphing, and summarizing
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health issues and pervasive developmental disorder gained through experience working with clients in a hospital or community setting
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation
- Understanding of Recovery and how it impacts all aspects of care
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge/experience with computers
- Current CPR-HCP and first aid
- Must be able to work shifts
- The ability to perform the physical aspects of the position, to maintain good attendance and to work day and afternoon shifts.
