About the role

Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at Augustana Campus, Camrose.

This is a recurring term position with a start date of August 1 and an end date of May 15 every year.

Do you love supporting others to enjoy recreation and fitness? We are looking for a Recreation Coordinator to develop and implement a robust recreation program for Augustana students. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement activities on and off campus.

Located in Camrose on Treaty 6 territory, Augustana Campus offers a unique learning experience rooted in the liberal arts and embedded in rural Alberta. Home to approximately 900 students, the campus offers undergraduate and graduate programs through the Augustana Faculty and the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. Augustana provides close-knit, supportive learning environments with extensive opportunities for student engagement in athletics, clubs, and campus life—delivering a small-campus experience with a world-class degree.

  • Plan and implement a range of activities that include the Augustana Fitness Centre, drop-in sports, learn-to activities, recreation tournaments, and climbing wall.

  • Hire, train, assign work and evaluate student recreation staff.

  • Lead and/or plan group and individual recreation and fitness programming.

  • Be an active presence at recreation activities, providing supervision and support.

  • Lead the assessment of student recreation needs and develop short and long-term plans.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology, Phys-Ed, Sport Management, Recreation, or related filed is required.

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' is required.

  • Certification in personal training/group fitness is preferred.

  • At least two years of experience leading a recreation and fitness program is preferred.

  • Experience in recreation/fitness programming in a university environment is a valued asset.
