About the role

Swan Valley Co-op is hiring a Lumber Manager at our Home and Building location in The Pas, MB .

What you’ll do:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operation of the Lumber Department including customer service, inventory control, budgeting, staffing, asset protection, and health and safety. The Lumber Manager will provide leadership, direction, and support to ensure the business delivers trusted products and services to the local community. Core duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Exploring opportunities for growth and product selection.
  • Ensuring adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts, image standards, safety, and asset protection within the Lumber Department.
  • Providing input to prepare, administer, and achieve budgeted goals as it relates to the pricing, sales, margins, expenses, and inventory of the department.
  • Providing leadership to the team, including the recruitment, goal setting, performance management, training, and development of team members.
  • Providing estimates for customer’s building projects.
  • Building strong customer relationships and delivering solutions and overseeing and monitoring client satisfaction levels, ensuring customer issues are resolved, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensuring the follow through of all safety and environmental policies and procedures and ensure standards are achieved while being responsible for coordination and compliance of all safety, maintenance, and asset protection policies.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Retail Operations and:

  • You have applicable post secondary education.
  • You’re experienced in leading a team with a focus on customer service; previous retail leadership experience would be considered an asset.
  • You have a large knowledge base of the various products sold within the lumber department.
  • You have 3 – 5 years of lumber and leadership experience (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
