We are seeking a forward-thinking and technically proficient intermediateEstimator to join our specialized Hambro division. In this role, you will be central to our preconstruction process, this will take a strong foundation in estimating for concrete, rebar, and formwork elements, as well as Hambro systems (AI focused).
You will play a key role in integrating new technical processes and leveraging modern tools to enhance speed, accuracy, and efficiency in quantity takeoffs and overall cost estimation. You will receive comprehensive, expert training in the estimation and sequencing of our proprietary Hambro installation systems (D500/MD2000), positioning you as a specialist in an innovative construction technology.
If you have two to five years of relevant experience and are eager to blend traditional construction expertise with adopting technical advancements to improve workflows, this is the ideal position for you.
Key Responsibilities
-
Detailed cost estimation: Prepare precise and comprehensive estimates for tenders and budgets, encompassing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for concrete, rebar, and formwork.
-
Quantity takeoffs and analysis: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using 2D drawings, 3D models (BIM), and project specifications. Interpret and rigorously analyze project documents (architectural, structural, civil) to ensure all scope requirements are fully captured.
-
Project specification interpretation: Rigorously interpret and analyze project documents (architectural, structural, civil, geotechnical) to ensure all scope requirements, constraints, and contractual obligations are fully understood and captured in the estimate.
-
Specialized concrete estimating: Accurately estimate all aspects of concrete placement and finishing, including concrete pump requirements (e.g., pressure line length, pump type selection, mobilization, and production rates).
-
Hambro system specialization: Fully engage in training to become proficient in estimating and planning the installation of Hambro systems, including construction sequencing, duration scheduling, and required crew compositions.
-
AI and process enhancement: Collaborate in developing, testing, and implementing AI/ML workflows to automate and streamline quantity takeoff and estimation processes, improving overall department efficiency.
-
Data management: Develop, maintain, and refine estimating databases, cost templates, and unit costs to ensure consistency and accuracy across all projects.
-
Collaboration and bidding: Work closely with Preconstruction, Engineering, and Project Management teams. Assist in the final preparation of proposals, bid forms, and provide schedule inputs using tools like MS Project.
-
Risk mitigation: Identify and quantify potential cost risks and opportunities within the project scope.
