Job Summary
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Surveyor. Under the direction of the Project Engineer, the Surveyor carries out engineering survey work for engineering design projects, including layout for construction. The incumbent provides survey information for other City departments, maintains field note data, and is responsible for equipment repairs, maintenance, and replacement.

Requirements
Applicants must have a diploma in engineering technology, surveying, or related discipline from a recognized technical institute and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in surveying. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a CUPE bargaining unit position based on a 35-hour work week, and subject to Article 1(d) - Probationary Period as set out in the Union Collective Agreement. The hourly wage is $40.62, increasing to $42.76 after 60 working days (Jan 2025 Rates). The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
