Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assembler/Fitter with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on production experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and takes pride in producing high-quality work. This role involves assembling complex mechanical and electrical components, performing fit-up and fine adjustments, and ensuring products meet strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex mechanical and electrical assemblies with precision
- Install and adjust impellers, shafts, gearboxes, and bushings
- Complete fit-up, welding, grinding, deburring, and polishing operations
- Interpret assembly drawings, work orders, and technical documentation
- Use inspection gauges and maintain accurate inspection records
- Identify and report deviations from specifications and tolerances
- Complete standardized documentation and inspection reports
- Operate hand and power tools, overhead cranes, and pallet jacks
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
- Collaborate with multiple departments to support efficient operations
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- OSSD High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Technical school diploma, trade certificate, or equivalent (preferred)
- CWB welding certification (asset)
- TSSA certification for carbon and stainless (asset)
- Forklift and overhead crane certification (preferred)
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with rotary equipment and complex assemblies
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of manual and electrical tools
- Understanding of metrology and inspection processes
- Familiarity with Duplex, Ni-hard, and Alloy 20 materials (asset)
- Advanced math skills, including geometry and trigonometry
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, and stooping
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Daily verbal and written communication in English
