##Position Summary
As a member of the Application Services team, the Applications Analyst is responsible for the implementation, operation, support and maintenance of a number of enterprise business applications. The Application Analyst works collaboratively with business users as part of a cross-functional project team to optimally configure and deliver new application services as well as providing timely end user support on an ad hoc basis.
##Key Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide technical expertise and carry out assigned tasks during the implementation or upgrade of enterprise business systems
- Contribute to successful completion of project deliverables by working collaboratively within a cross-functional project team comprised of business users, vendors, and IT staff
- Provide end user technical support for a variety of the City’s enterprise business systems
- Liaise with business users, vendors, and other IT staff to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner
- Define, document, and maintain guidelines and standard operating procedures related to the support of enterprise business systems
- Create reports and perform other data management tasks as needed
- Ensure compliance with established change management processes for the deployment of software patches, upgrades, or enhancements to the production environment
- On-call/standby evenings and weekends are required – must be available to work evenings, flex shifts, extended hours and statutory holidays when required
- Must be willing and able to transport yourself to City work sites as required (mileage compensated).
##Education and Experience
-
University degree in computer science or a related discipline
-
Microsoft developer certifications (MCITP, MCPD, MCSD, etc.) would be considered an asset
ITIL or PMP designation would be considered an asset

3 years of progressive work experience providing application and system administration support
##Required Skills/Knowledge
- Proficient with a variety of programming languages and development platforms including Microsoft .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, Visual Basic, PHP, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript
- Exceptional database skills with Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft T-SQL
- Demonstrated experience with reporting technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Crystal Reports
- Working knowledge of server and network infrastructure, operating systems, and mobile technologies
- Highly developed analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to providing exceptional and timely customer service
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to elicit requirements and translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms tailored to the audience
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment while also working well independently as required
- Excellent time management and organizational skills adept at effectively dealing with multiple competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies with ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies for introduction into a complex IT environment
- Proven experience with web portal technologies such as Microsoft SharePoint and IBM WebSphere Portal
- Working knowledge of any of the following packaged applications would be an asset: ESRI ArcGIS, Firehouse, EnerGov, ACR, IBM Maximo
