Role Description The Database Administrator (DBA) at Best-of-life will manage, maintain, and optimize the organization’s databases that support learning platforms, event management systems, and customer data. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring database performance, implementing backups and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and security, and troubleshooting database issues. The DBA will collaborate with developers and operations teams to design and refine database structures, support deployments, and maintain high availability and reliability of data services. This is a contract, remote role, requiring independent work, clear communication, and reliable availability during agreed-upon hours. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration and Databases for managing, securing, and optimizing production environments. Candidates should possess skills in Database Design and Replication to support scalable architectures, data consistency, and high availability. Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting skills to diagnose performance issues, resolve errors, and improve system reliability. Experience with common relational database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and familiarity with cloud-hosted databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL) is beneficial. Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization is preferred. Understanding of data security, access control, and compliance best practices is advantageous. Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and document procedures thoroughly. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
