Scope of position
The Health and Safety Intern position provides the opportunity to join a dynamic team that looks to consistently meet or exceed legal requirements and support the continuous improvement of Health and Safety management systems as our business grows.
By joining this team, you will be part of the operations team while still being exposed to manufacturing. You will be given the opportunity for hands-on experience, provided with real responsibility from day one, and encouraged to voice your opinions and promote your ideas to the team.
Major Responsibilities
(This is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed)
- Tracking, monitoring, and interpretation of data.
- Reviewing company procedures and policies.
- Developing inspection checklists and tracking inspection findings.
- Updating and recording staff training programs and materials.
- Maintaining employee training records.
- Developing new online training module and maintaining employee training records
- Updating the Health Environment Safety manual content and developing new policies.
- Other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Experience, & Competencies
- We are looking for driven, energetic and creative people who are currently enrolled in a postgraduate Occupational Health and Safety program or Environmental Science.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft applications (i.e., word, excel, and outlook)
- Demonstrated self-starter who is goal oriented.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and organize multiple priorities.
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
What We Offer
- The hourly rate for this role is $17.20.

Hours of Work and Travel Expectations
- Regular business hours, Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
- This position requires the employee to work on-site full-time in our Scarborough Office.
- There may be occasional travel to the site and office locations within Ontario.
