In accordance with Letter of Understanding #1 – Student Employees, and under supervision of the Indigenous Access & Services Coordinator and in coordination with the Indigenous Transition Planner, the Student Employee – Indigenous Services Peer Mentor will:
Functions and Duties
The Student Employee will assist the supervisor by performing the following duties:

Participate in peer mentor training, meetings and check-ins with Indigenous Access Services (IAS) staff
-
Inform visitors and peers about IAS
-
Engage with all peers in the Indigenous Centre and inform and encourage them to engage in social events
-
Assist on how to navigate through the College environment
-
Submit completed student help forms to supervisor
-
Assist with and attend IAS and campus events
-
Organize and tidy the Indigenous Centre on regular basis
Position Specific Functions
Education and Experience
Minimum 1 year in an accredited post-secondary program and be registered in a post-secondary program at Okanagan College
Prior work experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities

Basic understanding of Aboriginal people and culture, and/or desire to increase awareness

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel), internet
-
Prompt and self-motivated
-
Organizational and time-management
-
Interpersonal and communication skills

Cheerful attitude and positive role model
