Position Summary
Based out of New Glasgow or Halifax, NS, the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for leading and managing external accounting and reporting functions for Crombie REIT. Additionally, the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting is also be responsible for providing leadership, coaching and mentorship to the External Reporting Team. Additional duties of the Manager, Accounting & Financial Reporting include but are not limited to:

Ensures that accounting and reporting standards are maintained at a high standard and respected by all team members. Consistently research new IFRS accounting standards that impact Crombie’s financial position and financial statements and co-ordinate policy solutions;

Conducts and provides ownership on reporting to the specified investment flow-through (SIFT) model on a quarterly basis.

Provides ownership and conducts Crombie’s Joint Venture reporting process.

Provides ownership and conducts Crombie’s valuation process for investment properties.

In collaboration with the Senior Director, External Reporting, conducts reviews for Crombie’s tenant incentive and Capex processes, including Capex additions and revenue enhancing analysis.

Provides ownership to the monthly HST & QST Review process.

Conducts banking processes on a monthly basis.

Provides support to the Senior Director, External Reporting for the following functions;
-
- Interest Capitalization
- Consumption Tax Audits
- Tax Planning
- Property Appraisals
- Depreciation Budget (fixed assets, ROUs, investment properties)
- Joint Venture Budgets

Collaborates with External Reporting Team to develop process improvement initiatives and maintaining an effective system of internal control, identifying process/systems improvements and ensuring implementation and consistency.

Supports and provides supervision, management and coaching to assigned External Reporting team members.

Cultivates strong working relationships internally across all departments as building relationships with external partners and stakeholders.

Other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Senior Director, External Reporting

Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.

Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
The profile we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- At least 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably within real estate, asset management, or a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, including experience researching and implementing new accounting standards and policies.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing complex financial reporting deliverables, including joint ventures.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and process improvement, with a track record of identifying efficiencies and implementing scalable solutions.
- Solid problem solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Position Summary
