Job Information
The Nurse-in-Charge (NIC) reports to the Regional Manager of Primary Care (RMPC)and is located in YK and is responsible for the overall daily management of the primary care program in YK . Direct reports include the following positions: Community Health Nurses, LPN- Lead, Licensed Practical Nurse(s) (LPN) and the Clinic Administrative Supervisors. The Nurse-in-Charge collaborates with Nurse Practitioners and Primary Care Physicians to deliver comprehensive Primary Care Services and foster an excellent patient experience of the services.
The NIC is a Registered Nurse, who provides clinical leadership, models and promotes excellence through the hands-on delivery of nursing care to clients, and by providing seasoned advice, and/or recommendations to Community Health Nurse, Primary Care, LPNs and Clinic Assistants when faced with difficult or unusual situations. The incumbent helps guide staff from task orientation to more empowered analytical thinking, and care giving approaches. These services have a direct impact on the quality of services delivered to clients and their families, and on the cost of the services provided. The NIC is a member of the Primary Care Community Team.
Key Qualifications:
A Baccalaureate in Nursing and three (3) years of recent nursing experience with at least one (1) year of experience in a Primary Care Clinic/Community Health Centre as a Registered Nurse and six (6) months of supervisory experience.
Equivalency Knowledge and Experience: Registered Nurse Diploma Program and five (5) years of recent nursing experience with at least one (1) year of experience in a Primary Care Clinic/Community Health Centre as a Registered Nurse with six (6) months of supervisory experience.
