We are currently searching for a Fleet Maintenance Manager to join us . The Fleet Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing and directing maintenance staff and assisting and coordinating of all fleet maintenance operations including maintenance, contract compliance, administration, and ensuring compliance with labour, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and regulations.

What will you do?

  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly maintenance and preventative maintenance goals are met ensuring that safe and reliable vehicles are available each day to meet operational requirements;
  • Maximize fleet up time to allow the operation to fulfill its municipal collection contractual requirements daily;
  • Oversee all work performed by contracted third party maintenance and repair vendors;
  • Enforce contract terms of third-party maintenance and repair agreements;
  • Ensure accurate Preventative Maintenance scheduling and follow up is done, provide breakdown and vehicle status updates; oversee technical assignments for efficiency, training, and flexibility;
  • Tracking downtime for all equipment;
  • Work in tandem with the Operation Manager to co-ordinate and prioritize all work in the service board (daily jobs/repairs, running repairs, customer prioritizing);
  • Dispatch/supervise work to mechanics based on skill level and timing;
  • Utilize your proven supervisory skills to provide leadership and coaching to mechanics of all experience levels;
  • Assist with trouble shooting and solving of mechanical problems;
  • Ensure productivity and work quality goals are met;
  • Hands-on day to day active management and a strong presence in the yard overseeing mechanics;
  • Communicate/work in tandem with Operations Department and key team members;
  • Managing activities against prescribed KPIs;
  • Review and approval of work orders in a timely, daily manner focusing on accuracy and quality;
  • Develop and track the maintenance operating budget and manage within budget constraints to ensure the long-term viability of the operation;
  • Prepare management reporting as required;
  • Manage and coach all staff assigned to the department to ensure performance targets are being met;
  • Ensure identified employee training requirements are fulfilled to meet compliance and safety standards;
  • Maintain a safe working environment by administering and managing safe work practices and policies;
  • Provide weekly progress reports to Operations Management;
  • Develop annual fleet life cycle capital plans based on user requirements and through analytical evaluations of existing fleet vehicles and equipment;
  • Develop contract specifications for several fleet and equipment related parts and services;
  • Maximize operational efficiency by leveraging the available fleet routing and fleet maintenance technologies (i.e. RTA) utilized by the company;
  • Manage and review all warranty claims;
  • Manage maintenance files to ensure MTO compliance;
  • Manage and review reports using ASI fuel management system.
