The International Operations Team delivers excellence in customer experience from customer service through to assisting our customers who are facing difficulties in maintaining their regular repayments or facing financial vulnerability. We do this by aiming to execute best in class customer service and by developing solutions to offer our customers.
About the Role
The Credit Underwriter is responsible for assessing consumer credit applications and assisting in managing the credit and fraud risk profile within the defined risk appetite and in accordance with CA regulations and legislation. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and independence and is expected to deliver against key performance indicators, striking the right balance between credit risk and new business acquisition.
What Does an Average Day Look Like?
You would be:
- Assessment of consumer finance applications.
- Review information and engage with applicants to obtain and documentation or further information required to reach a suitable credit decision.
- Ensure creditworthiness and affordability are adequately assessed for reviewed applications.
- Deliver quality customer service, always treating customers fairly.
- Identify application problems and escalate / resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Actively participate in fraud prevention activities.
- Support in portfolio monitoring and ongoing management and enhancement of the credit risk and automated decisioning strategies.
- Respond to prospect and existing customer queries related to the application journey.
- Cooperate with other teams and functions to achieve desired outcomes.
About You …

We're also looking for someone who also has:
- Experience in CA financial services (preferably underwriting)
- Understanding of credit risk and automated decisioning strategies
- Ability to make timely credit and business decisions
- Strong attention to detail and ability to notice anomalies
- Excellent analytical skills together with an ability to think pragmatically
- Confidence in formulating and communicating ideas to senior management.
