The Opportunity
The Director of Manufacturing, under the direction of the VP of Operations, is primarily responsible for overseeing Tayco’s day-to-day manufacturing operations. As an experienced manager in the manufacturing industry, they will draw on a broad, up-to-date knowledge of the industry. The Director of Manufacturing will ensure that company objectives are achieved by guaranteeing that all necessary resources are available and allocated correctly, and that processes and protocols are in place, properly communicated, and followed. The Director of Manufacturing will provide leadership and guidance to all direct and indirect reports.
What You Will Do
- Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.
- Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
- Optimize workflow, equipment utilization, and plant layout to improve throughput and support mixed‑model manufacturing. Establish, standardize, and continuously refine operational procedures aligned with lean and 5S principles.
- Assists VP of Operations with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology. Suggest and Plan capital investments in automation, CNC technology, material handling systems, and facility enhancements.
- Develop and manage the manufacturing budget. Track and analyze KPIs—such as scrap rates, labor efficiency, and on-time Production—to identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Support sustainable manufacturing initiatives, including responsible waste reduction, and energy‑efficient operations.
- Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of office and unionized employees, as required.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
- Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
- Delivers progress and production reports to senior leadership team members as requested.
- Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- At least ten years of experience in industrial management required.
- Deep understanding of office furniture manufacturing processes, Broad understanding of manufacturing, technologies and design principles.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
- Strong analysis skills: process, capacity, cost/benefit, waste stream, and quality tools.
- Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in manufacturing
- Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others.
- Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
- Strong capability to work with the management team to create and implement a dynamic company vision and culture.
- Excellent skills in communication, delegation, problem solving, multi tasking and team building.
- Awareness of safety and environmental laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.

Salary: $132,000
This position is also eligible for discretionary bonus.
