Assistant Golf Professional (PGA of Canada)
Reports To: Director of Golf
Job Type: Full-Time, Seasonal (March 15th – November 15th)
Position Summary
The Assistant Golf Professional will play an integral role in delivering outstanding golf experiences across instruction, daily operations, and member engagement. This position is ideal for a well-rounded PGA of Canada Professional who enjoys teaching, retail operations, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
In addition to providing private and group instruction, the successful candidate will work scheduled shifts in the Pro Shop, manage league and support tournament operations, and assist in overseeing outdoor service functions to ensure seamless and welcoming guest service.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Pro Shop, League & Event Operations
- Manage and execute weekly MGC Men’s League operations
- Support Women’s League functions as required
- Assist in delivering a high-quality experience for internal member events
- Support tournaments, leagues, golf simulators, and special events as needed
- Provide exceptional front-line customer service, including phone inquiries and tee time reservations
Golf Instruction & Member Engagement
- Deliver private, semi-private, and group lessons for golfers of all skill levels
- Conduct clinics and club fitting sessions
- Assist is our July and August MGC Junior Camp
- Build strong relationships with members and guests to enhance engagement and retention
- Promote instructional programs and player development initiatives
Retail & Daily Operations Support
- Assist with daily Pro Shop operations, including sales, merchandising, and inventory management
- Work closely with our Outdoor Service team
- Support POS operations and merchandising standards
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as scheduled
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Support the leadership and coordination of the bag drop and outdoor services team
- Lead by example, fostering a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Golf and Golf Operations team
Qualifications & Skills
- PGA of Canada member in good standing, or actively working toward certification
- Previous experience in a golf professional role, with exposure to instruction and operations preferred
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively engage members, guests, and group coordinators
- Experience with golf shop operations, POS systems, and merchandising is an asset
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support team members
- Passion for growing the game of golf and developing players of all ages and abilities
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during the golf season
