Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Mental Health - Temporary full-time - 2026-17141
About the role
Summary of Duties
The Mental Health Nurse will be a member of the interprofessional team providing assessment, care, and treatment in Psychiatry. In collaboration with other team members, the Nurse will:

Provide psychosocial support and counselling, support patients through regular, patientcentred follow up.

Identify appropriate resources to patient needs taking into consideration severity of illness, culture, language, reading level and health literacy
-
Taking into account each patient’s values, preferences and circumstances, support the development of patient-centred goals
-
Facilitate family team meetings as needed
-
Implement interventions/ treatment plans with patients, family members, significant others, and the multi-disciplinary team for the purpose of facilitating changes in behavior, attitudes and feelings.

Demonstrate responsiveness to patient needs within scope of practice and professional boundaries
-
Use goal setting and action planning techniques to encourage positive changes of patients
-
Support self-management techniques
-
Support treatment programming

The role may also require assistance in neuromodulation clinics This includes application of energy for rTMS, assisting with application and recovery of ECT, administers and assess effectiveness of treatments and medication.
Qualifications/Skills
- Experience working in Mental Health, minimum 450 hours inpatient Mental health experience
- 1-3 years experience providing therapy (such as cognitive behavioral or dialectical behaviour therapy ) is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Master’s degree in Nursing is an asset.
- Current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Competence; current B.C.L.S. Experience in community Mental health services is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to function on an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational skills, problem solving and management skills
- Ability to adapt to change, be flexible in an ever-changing environment
