We are seeking a highly motivated temp Staff Accountant to join our team. As the Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations. This role reports to the Director of Accounting. This****is a TEMPORARY, remote full-time position for a duration of one year.
What you’ll do:

Lead the Accounts Payable function, including recording vendor invoices and preparing payments

Oversee all assigned bookkeeping duties, recording journal entries and reconciling general ledger to ensure accuracy and timeliness of recording.

Responsible for assigned month-end close duties, financial statement preparation, and balance sheet and bank statement reconciliations, while prioritizing assigned duties to keep all data up to date.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Prepare and file GST/QST returns.

Patriciate with assigned duties for the annual audit and corporate tax filings.

Work on any other duties assigned by the Director of Accounting where needed.

Ensure compliance with regulations in Quebec, Canada and the US.
Key Outcomes:
-
Accounts Payable Ownership: The Staff Accountant will receive and record vendor invoices, administer new vendor setup, maintain vendor files, prepare weekly payment files for management, file invoices, and liaise with vendors on payment status.

Accounting Operations Support: The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accountant in ensuring all day-to-day transactions are accounted for in adherence with department policies.

Sales Tax and Provincial Regulations compliance: The Staff Accountant will lead the monthly GST/QST filing process and correspond with CRA and Revenu Quebec as needed. In addition, the Staff Accountant will file regulatory reports with the province in a timely fashion.
What you have:

Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting

1-3 years of relevant experience

Experience with Accounts Payable, Journal Entries, and month-end close
-
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Nice to have:

Knowledge of Quebec SRED credits and QST/GST filings
-
CPA student with knowledge of auditing and SR&ED Credits is a plus
-
Knowledge of payroll/HR compliance processes in Quebec

Bilingual fluency in English and French
