Pro/Fab Welding Salvage Technician - Journeyperson

Position Overview: Responsible for parts salvage using standard and specialized welding techniques. With the exception of thermal spray application, employees working in this job classification are required to be apprentice/certified journeyperson welders.
Job Description:
- Repair worn parts and welding stock material to bring back parts to specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications
- Fit sub-assemblies and assemblies together and prepare for welding
- Lay out, cut and form metal to specifications
- Fully Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
- Able to operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment
- Operate brazing and soldering equipment
Qualifications:
- Welding Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required
- Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C
- Previous on-the-job training such as carbon arc gouging , Tig ,SMAW ,GMAW and FCAW
- Previous experience with Heavy Equipment repairs an asset
- You are able to work indoors with noise, vibrations and other hazards that are common to the job
- You are able to work in uncomfortable or unusual positions at times
- Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively
- Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures
Note:
- This posting is for a static afternoon shift scheduled Monday - Thursday; 10 hours per day
- Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement

- Hourly Rate: $53.05 – 56.23 / Hour
