Medicine Hat College invites applications for a casual Cook (Cook I).
A little about the role:
Working in a fast-paced food services environment, this position will prepare and cook a variety of full course meals including appetizers, main courses, vegetables and desserts in commercial quantities for public consumption, as well as prepare food at quick-serve line locations. Other duties include cleaning and maintaining equipment. The Cook fosters a positive team environment, while maintaining the highest possible standards in food quality and safety. This position works with guidance from the Food Services Coordinator.
Details:
As a successful applicant you'll have:
- Minimum of 2 years directly related experience in institutional food services operations.
- Demonstrated experience with various institutional food services equipment.
- Applied experience and certification from an accredited educational institution in Food Sanitation and Safety Standards, Food Safety Regulations, and WHMIS standards.
- Math skills and the ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Alberta Certified Cook Trade qualification preferred, or an apprentice; equivalencies will be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Terms of Employment
Term of Appointment: ASAP to June 30, 2026
Hours of Work: Up to 35 hours per week, as needed and as scheduled by supervisor. Evening and weekend work may be required.
Wage Rate: $19.62 per hour (Start Rate); $21.42 per hour (Job Rate)
