About the role
Reporting to the General Manager at Baywood Park, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the day-to-day work in a large residential property. Ensures that work is completed on time, to high standards and that all safety protocols are always followed. A polished and professional approach to customer service is beneficial in maintaining the Osgoode Properties’ corporate image.
Roles and responsibilities:
As a proactive individual, performs all routine preventative maintenance at the property, including building systems, equipment, common areas, and grounds, responds to all work orders, and is responsible to answering to emergencies as they arise. Specifically:
- Ensures the upkeep and maintenance of the building including corridors, lobbies, stairwells, laundry rooms, storage areas and vacant units
- Ensures the operation of all services such as heating, lighting and plumbing
- Ensures touch up painting is completed as needed
- Performs regular inspections and maintains appropriate logs, while maintaining a hazard free environment
- Ensures the upkeep of the property including but not limited to litter picks, walkways, parking areas, and grounds
- Participates in snow removal, salting and sanding, and maintains the related log
- Participates in the maintenance of grounds, including but not limited to mowing, landscaping and watering
- Maintains a pleasant, friendly and secure place for residents
Requirements for success:
- High school equivalent with some technical courses (i.e. WHMIS)
- At least 2 years’ experience in the field
- Excellent “do it yourself” skills
- Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs
- Must be fully conversant with Fire Safety Regulations
- Experience in dealing with sub-contractors and trades people
- Ability to use a mobile device and software related to work orders
- Hands-on experience in dealing with:
- HVAC and boilers, mechanical troubleshooting, and minor repairs
- Fire safety and sprinkler systems
- Alarms
- Hydro vaults
- Building access systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work
- Ability to work unsupervised and work as part of a team
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong communications skills in English
Other requirements:
- Safety footwear
- Ability to do on-call duty not only during regular business hours but also evenings, holidays, and weekends (on a rotating basis)
- Light to medium duty work required, lifting to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license
- Have own tools
Desirable skills:
- Ability to operate small machinery and equipment
- Skid loader operator certificate
