About the role

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking for energetic individuals to join the 2025/26 Operations Team in the role of Ice Crew team member.

Ice Crew team members will be part of a professional, high-energy ice maintenance and operations team. Team members will be out-going, athletic, experienced skaters who are interested in ice maintenance and extremely comfortable on camera in a high-energy hockey environment.
Team members will also ensure that any event preparation/set-up required for shows or sporting events are run safely and efficiently.

These part-time term positions run from September 21, 2025 – June 30, 2026.

What to be excited for in this role:

  • Team members are responsible for following the cleaning process of the ice surface, both on and off the ice, during Manitoba Moose and Winnipeg Jets home games.
  • Support with net installations, plexiglass replacements, hole patching on ice, and other ice duties as assigned.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of ice crew area before and after all home games.
  • Participate in set-up and post-event teardown effectively and efficiently in arena concourses, rooms and event spaces, this may include, but not limited to arranging tables, chairs, and props for functions, concerts, events and hockey at Canada Life Centre.
  • Answer, respond, and resolve two-way radio calls quickly and efficiently.
  • Recognize safety and maintenance concerns and report concerns to management.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and appropriately deal with a variety of situations that may occur.
  • Attend to minor repairs and fixes of toilets, sinks, and other maintenance issues.
  • Sand and salt entrances and outdoors to provide safe environments for all patrons, staff, and visitors. Perform other duties as required that align with the responsibilities of the role and the needs of the organization.

What we need from you:

  • Must be a proficient skater in hockey skates or have strong skating ability is required.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends. Usually 8+ shifts a month.
  • Must be available for at least 80% of all home games' hockey schedule.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and works well in a team environment. Works well with all levels of employees.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to exhibit discretion and confidentiality as required.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable.
  • Reliable, punctual, and regular in attendance.
  • Must be able to walk or stand on concrete for long periods while completing tasks.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 lbs., and regularly to lift 15 lbs.
  • General knowledge in the maintenance field is an asset.
  • Age Requirement: 16+
  • If selected, participants will be required to attend an in-person audition.
