The Discipline Lead – Electrical acts as a subject matter expert on specific projects across Canada. Their involvement spans both the pre-construction and tendering phases, as well as projects under construction. During the pre-construction phase, the Discipline Lead contributes to the design development strategy related to the electrical discipline, working within the design management or tendering team. They actively participate in concept development alongside consultants and specialized subcontractors (if selected), fostering synergy between the design and construction teams. The Discipline Lead collaborates with and/or leads the team to ensure that the design and associated costs are optimized in alignment with the client’s requirements, and that the design remains compliant with applicable standards and regulations.
What you will do

Collaborates on/leads the design development strategy related to the discipline within the Design Management Team led by the Design Manager.

Assigned to review drawings and specifications based on the expected level of detail and Client requirements.

Maintains close contact with the estimating team regarding work within the electrical discipline to ensure that the specialist subcontractor's price is valid.
After contract award, the Discipline Manager continues to be involved, as needed, within an agreed scope of work until full design completion, to ensure that guidelines and concepts are adhered to and implemented. Scope of work may include:

Reviewing drawings and specifications based on the expected level of detail and Client requirements.

Reviewing calls for tenders from specialized ELECTRICAL subcontractors (Sub stations, Equipment Power, Building Distribution, Fire Alarm, Control, etc.); as well as reviewing submitted bids.

Providing support for factory and site testing, as well as equipment commissioning.
Furthermore, during execution, the Discipline Manager's technical advice may also be required from time to time on projects of all types, whether design or construction (including resolving constructability or poor workmanship issues) that may arise in projects in which Pomerleau is involved.
This role could be for you if you have

Have bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Building or related). A master degree specialized in field related to building’s ELECTRICAL system and/or Industrial and/or Medium Voltage Substations is a strong asset.

Preference for job experience of minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 10 in a design role in the discipline.

Having both design experience (consultant firms) and construction experience (general or specialized contractors) is considered an asset.

Show initiative, innovation, discipline and leadership in the planning and development of concepts.

Be familiar with Building Information Modeling-Virtual Design Construction (BIM-VDC) models.
