Our client is seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to assist with leading a sheet metal fabrication shop servicing HVAC projects for commercial and industrial buildings.
Role Description
You will have the opportunity to lead a small crew in daily work, ensuring sheet metal fittings are fabricated to the correct specification meeting quality expectations. You will work closely with the Shop Manager, assisting with training new team members, improving quality control, and ensuring deliveries and pickups are properly tracked.
Responsibilities
- Lead a small crew in daily tasks, providing guidance and supporting them to complete work in a timely manner
- Build a strong, respectful team culture; learn each team member's strengths and support them to lean into their strengths
- Use machinery and equipment to bend, cut, burn, and shape sheet metal for commercial HVAC
- Train and mentor new team members, educate them on shop safety, quality requirements, and tool use
- Use logistics software to track and document shipping/receiving
- Work closely with the Shop Manager to ensure all work is completed on time and to expected quality
- Communicate with internal teams to align work with client needs
- Set clear expectations on production, performance, and quality
- Lead by example, be willing and able to jump on the tools wherever necessary
Skills and Requirements
-Experience leading a small crew in a sheet metal fabrication shop
- Valid sheet metal journeyman ticket
- Ability to create schedules, delegate tasks, and proactivity in determining daily priorities
- Excellent problem solving skills, ability to adapt quickly to changing situations
- Experience leading small crews in a manufacturing setting
- Outgoing personality with desire to build relationships with new people
- Valid driver's license
