About this role:
Located in Amherstburg, Ontario, James H. Sutton Funeral Home is currently recruiting for an Assistant Funeral Home Manager. For over 120 years, we have proudly served our community with compassion and care, helping families honour and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. Our welcoming facility features a spacious chapel, comfortable family lounge, and modern amenities, all designed to provide meaningful and memorable funeral services.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will support all aspects of funeral home operations, including staff leadership, budget management, facility maintenance, and funeral service execution. Key Qualifications and Demonstrated Abilities:
- Possesses a Funeral Directors license with minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director.
- Displays proven, superior arrangement, directing and embalming skills.
- Demonstrates active community involvement and establishes a positive profile of the Funeral Home within the community.
- Previous leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.
- Exemplifies Arbor’s values of compassion, integrity, trust, teamwork, belonging and excellence.
- Excellent knowledge of Funeral Home procedures and business practices including Funeral Home Procedures Manuals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities:
- Recruits, trains and motivates Funeral Home staff to ensure they create and maintain a premier level of customer satisfaction.
- Supports the implementation of strategic market planning and financial long-term objectives which realize the funeral home’s potential and fair return on investment.
- Assists with the development of annual budget forecasts, both operational and capital and upon acceptance by senior management, has full accountability for the achievement of these fiscal objectives.
- Ensures all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Assumes responsibility for managing the company’s funeral home and developing goodwill in the community it serves.
- Ensures visitations and services are conducted in a manner that exceeds the expectations of our client families and friends.
- Practices and promotes teamwork among all staff.
- Ensures general building upkeep and the proper maintenance of funeral services vehicles including washing, interior care, cleaning, polishing, vehicle maintenance, vehicle maintenance scheduling and service care plan.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
