The City of North Vancouver Planning and Development Department is looking for an Auxiliary Electrical Inspector to join their team.
In this auxiliary position, you will inspect residential, commercial and industrial electrical installations and equipment at various stages of completion, and review related plans to ensure compliance with applicable bylaws, electrical codes, Acts, standards, and regulations. In addition, you will check plans and specifications in order to issue permits; respond to complaints regarding construction noise and secondary suites; provide technical advice, assistance, and information to a variety of internal and external contacts; prepare and present evidence in court, as required; and, perform investigations related to fires and electrical accidents as required.
You will possess a B.C. Electrical Trades Qualification, a valid class 5 BC Driver’s License and must be qualified or eligible to become qualified as a Safety Officer in accordance with the BC Safety Standards Act General Regulation, which requires a minimum of 5 years in the electrical trade. A valid BC Master Electrician FSR A or B certification would be an asset. Experience with Permit Processing systems, proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of mobile computers (iPad), along with proven experience interacting with the public in a diplomatic and tactful manner and superior verbal and written communication skills are also required.
You will be required to provide your own transportation in return for reimbursement according to the Vehicle Policy.
Salary:
$46.07 - $54.44 per hour + benefits
(Pay Grade 26 – 2024 rates)
Hours of Work:
Auxiliary, hours of work will vary based on operational need and will be scheduled on an on-call basis.
