Job Description & Requirements
This position will support School Age.
Purpose of Position
The Educational Assistant (Speech Language Pathology) provides one-on-one support to students to assist in the improvement of their speech and/or language development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Are established by the Administrator of Student Achievement Support Services within the parameters of the job profile.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent 1 to 2 years related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to follow standardized work methods and process while working with children to support learning.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize specialized software and computer programs to develop/work with student materials.
- A basic understanding of speech language pathology principles (specific speech language pathology training is provided through professional development).
- Ability to comprehend and work to correct speech production errors.
- Effective basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Class 5 Driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR.

Permanent CUPE employees presently on staff will be given early consideration, in accordance with COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.
