About Us

Peak Occupational Safety Training Inc. (Peak Safety Training) is a WorkSafeBC-approved OFA provider and offers a variety of OHS courses including fall protection, confined space, ladder safety, Lockout tagout, construction safety officer, construction essential skills, mobile equipment, first aid, supervisor safety and other general OHS courses.

Training is provided both at out dedicated Training Centre and at client locations, serving corporations, institutions, associations, and individual learners across private and public sectors. The team is committed to practical, high-quality instruction that helps participants confidently apply safety principles on the job.

Role Description The OHS Safety Trainer is a full-time, on-site role based in Burnaby, BC. This role is responsible for delivering Occupational Health and Safety courses in accordance with WorkSafeBC standards and internal training guidelines. Day-to-day activities include preparing lesson plans and training materials, facilitating classroom and hands-on instruction, assessing learner performance, and providing constructive feedback to support skill development. The OHS Safety Trainer will also update course content to reflect regulatory and industry changes, maintain accurate training records, and collaborate with colleagues to coordinate schedules and ensure a consistent learner experience. The role involves regular interaction with corporate and individual clients, requiring clear communication, a safety-first mindset, and a professional approach to representing Peak Safety Training.

Job Duties

Perform/facilitate safety training at client sites and at Peak’s training center Prepare training facility and equipment prior to training classes Maintain training equipment and materials Maintain training facility standards including equipment, tools and cleanliness Assist in development of training programs, including curriculum and corresponding training materials such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, and manuals Provide training support, including communication, promotion and coordination of training events Cooperate with the Training Coordinator regarding training and scheduling Audit courses taught by Peak Instructors and provide feedback Identify potential hazards and determine ways of reducing risks Keep up to date and ensure compliance with current OHS legislation Assist in general duties to maintain an effective company operation Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Skills and Qualifications

Experience or aptitude in training or presenting in the technical or safety field Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent presentation and facilitation skills Proficiency using common tools and basic construction knowledge Ability to interact with students of varied backgrounds Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, students and customers Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers; builds long-term business relationships; represents the Company’s brand to all customers Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures Ability to write reports, business correspondence and develop course curriculum Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues Detail-oriented, well organized Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative individually Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Must be able to perform responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations Must be able to lift 50 lbs, move equipment and perform practical training exercise Must be able to travel Must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle Must be able to pass security screening requirements What We’re Looking For 1–3 years of experience in presenting or training or health and safety experience Experience using tools and basic construction knowledge Excellent written and verbal communication Proficiency with Microsoft Office
