The School of Nursing invites applications for part-time (sessional) teaching positions to be offered in the 2026-27 academic year.
JOB AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
The applicant will be responsible for teaching professional practice (clinical) courses in the McMaster BScN educational program.
Sessional instructor teaching responsibilities vary depending on the course and may include providing professional practice instruction and supervision within an acute care setting, and overseeing the administrative components of the course, (e.g., grading and completing student evaluation measures, holding office hours, and managing student accommodations). The vacancies are tentative, pending final course determinations and enrollment.
Course Details
The courses in the BScN Program curricula introduce nursing students to professional practice and theoretical topics where students expand their knowledge of core nursing concepts.
Clinical expertise required:
- mental health
- elder care
- maternal health
- pediatric
Compensation
The Teaching Stipend per course and per term ranges between $5500 – $10,700, depending on the clinical course taught. The weekly hours of work will be discussed during the recruitment process and are course specific.
Required Qualifications

A BScN degree is required for all professional practice instructor positions.

A MSc degree is preferred.

Actively employed within a clinical practice environment + a minimum of three years clinical experience is required.

Professional practice experience in mental health, elder care, obstetrical/maternal health or pediatric unit is preferred. However, candidates with backgrounds in other acute care areas, such as medical-surgical, trauma, cardiology, or neurology are also encouraged to apply.

Those able to accept assignments based in the Hamilton, Halton, Brant, or Mississauga region are preferred.

The successful candidate will have previous experience teaching similar courses at the university level and/or appropriate academic qualifications.

Eligible candidates must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
