This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time positions working 75 bi-weekly. It will establish a 6-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Dawson City in the beautiful Yukon.

Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML) provides person-centered care to individuals who need varying levels of intermediate care support with daily living activities. Through responsiveness to each resident’s uniqueness, the Lodge creates a feeling of home and belonging for all who live there.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic individual to lead the delivery of person-centered care in a rural community setting. This pivotal role provides leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on management to ensure residents receive safe, high-quality, and respectful care services. As Manager of Resident Care, you’ll inspire and support the AML team while building strong relationships with families, community partners, and stakeholders.

You’ll champion recruitment, training, and retention, build strong community partnerships, and oversee resources and quality initiatives. With active licensure, you’ll also step in when needed to provide hands-on care.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Current license in good standing with a Canadian nursing regulatory body.

  • Significant clinical nursing experience including direct supervision of health care professionals.

  • Demonstrated relevant and recent leadership experience in healthcare, preferably in long-term or residential care (such as HR management, program evaluation, and stakeholder engagement).

  • Experience in rural/northern setting is considered an asset.

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.

Current Yukon Registered Nursing Association or PLRA registration in good standing, RCMP clearance with vulnerable sector check; TB Clearance, Valid Yukon class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent; CPR level c WHMIS 2015 (within 1 month of hire), Food Safe

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

Regular lifting up to 20 lbs, travel both in and outside the territory by both ground and air, potential exposure to pets, second hand smoke, warm temperatures and increased exposure to infectious organisms and exposure to latex products.
