The Position
This is a temporary full-time position from January 5, 2026 to August 31, 2026, Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, based out of our Support Office, with the possibility of extension. The People and Culture (P&C) Intern will report to the P&C Business Partner (PCBP) . They will provide administrative support for day-to-day P&C operations and processes. This role plays an important role in the fulfillment of AdaptAbilities core purpose, vision, and core values. The conscientious P&C Intern acts with integrity, is open to growth, lives our purpose, cultivates teamwork, and demonstrates an extraordinary effort to empower individuals with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.
- Completion of all assigned tasks outlined in P&C workplan
- Maintain employee files, ensuring they contain required documentation
- Assists in full cycle recruitment and onboarding of front line and administration positions
- Organize and prepare for internal training for employees including printing material, sending training reminders, and preparing training certificates
- Prepares general employment verification letters and documentation for employees
- Ensures that all filing is completed in a timely manner
- Track years of service compiling recognition supplies annually (i.e. gifts and certifications)
- Fulfill reception coverage duties including answering, screening, and transferring inbound phone calls as well as maintaining a tidy reception area, storage room, and office supply room
- Perform other job-related activities as required
Qualifications
- Enrolled full or part time at an ELIGIBLE Canadian college or university and following a course of study that leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
- Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Knowledge of office applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check
Eligibility Criteria
This position is funded through the Employment and Social Development Canada's Student Work Placement Program which requires students to be enrolled (completing program requirements) for at least the first 30 days of this internship, hold Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency, or refugee status, interested in entrepreneurship and/or seeking alternatives to 'traditional' job placements. If you have been an intern who has previously been funded by VFC (either with our organization or another), you must have completed VFC training
Compensation $20.49 to $21.52 per hour depending on experience.
