THE ROLE
As a member of the peopleCare nursing team, this position works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and reports to the Director of Care while providing nursing and personal care to residents. In performing these duties, the individual may assume the duties of charge nurse in an assigned unit. The position complies with all legislative standards, company policies/procedures and rules/regulations in a professional manner.
**Reports to:**Director of Care/Director of Nursing
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support to residents with their daily routines, including bathing, dressing, undressing, and assisting with meals, ensuring they receive the necessary care and dignity during these activities.
Thoroughly review reports to stay informed about any changes or important information regarding residents' health and care needs.
Follow and implement physician orders accurately, administering medications and treatments within the scope of practice set by the College of Nurses, ensuring compliance with established medical protocols.
Regularly observe and monitor the physical and mental conditions of residents, promptly reporting any notable changes or concerns to the Registered Nurse to facilitate timely interventions.
Ensure the safety of residents by adhering to required nursing care techniques and maintaining accurate records in compliance with established documentation standards and legislative requirements.
Actively participate in the development, modification, and evaluation of residents' individualized care plans, contributing insights and observations that enhance the effectiveness of their care.
Foster a cooperative working relationship with other healthcare team members, actively collaborating and communicating to provide high-quality care, and assisting in training non-registered nursing staff as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Engage in the quality assurance process by participating in relevant meetings and activities, contributing to the evaluation and improvement of care standards and practices within the unit.
Adhere to health and safety guidelines and practices, promptly reporting any actual or potential hazards to supervisors, and ensure a clean and orderly work environment for the safety of residents and staff.
Commit to ongoing professional development by attending all mandatory education sessions, engaging in reflective practice, and pursuing additional learning opportunities to maintain and enhance competency in nursing practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers
Must possess strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills
