Salary Range: $63,347 to $116,190 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.

  • Preference given to candidates with a Human Kinetics Degree or equivalent required human kinetics including a PE teaching area.

  • strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated successful experience in teaching all components of a well-rounded, balanced, and effective Physical Education program at the elementary level including Dance, Gymnastics, and Outdoor Pursuits

  • proven experience and demonstrated commitment to using a variety of fitness tools/assessments and developing individualized fitness goals to enhance student fitness levels and promote the enjoyment of fitness

  • ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices in Physical Education to measure and monitor student progress effectively

  • proven ability to analyse student performance data to improve the school's PE program

  • demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of child physical and social/emotional development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with elementary-aged children

  • demonstrated ability to incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and proactively resolve discipline problems and still maintain the dignity of young learners

  • evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic with a proven ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member

  • excellent communication skills with parents, students, and other staff

  • demonstrated experience with collaboration, shared decision-making, and leadership to foster positive student and staff relationships that builds school culture.

  • commitment to supporting EBS and school-wide initiatives such as 6 Cedars, Virtues Project, RTI …

  • commitment to working with colleagues in an open, accepting manner to promote a strong and caring professional learning community
