Job Summary
The Inventory and Quality Operations Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring efficient quality control processes. The role involves daily communication and collaboration with various departments. This role is best described as a hybrid, plant-floor operational role with a strong inventory control backbone and applied (hands-on) quality checks, not a lab-based or systems-heavy QC position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Regularly conduct cycle counts and full physical inventory audits.
- Enter, verify, and post inventory count documents in ERP system for streamlined data management.
- Verify consignment inventory accuracy and investigate inventory discrepancies, ensuring alignment with records.
- Monitor and control inventory levels and movements, including receiving, storage, transfers, and shipping to guarantee accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
- Coordinate with different departments to research and resolve inventory discrepancies, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues, and implement corrective actions
- Identify and suggest opportunities to enhance inventory accuracy and product quality
- Assist with receiving when needed.
- Operate lift trucks or other material moving equipment as required.
- Support additional quality or inventory-related tasks as required by management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Quality Inspection:
- Perform inspections on incoming raw materials, in-process production, and final products to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Schedule product-type quality sample testing and determine appropriate sampling frequency for production lines.
- Perform daily quality checks on production samples, including testing for density, flexibility, and other physical properties.
- Document and report non-conformances; conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications before release.
- Maintain calibration records and ensure measuring instruments are functioning properly.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 standards (if applicable).
- Maintain adherence to company procedures, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Support and drive implementation and adherence to 5S, continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices where relevant.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of the inventory tracking and control methods.
- Operate lift trucks or other material moving equipment as required’
- Detailed document management and reporting skill
- Basic math skills including decimals and percentages.
- Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
- Professional and excellent oral and written communication .
- Knowledge of MS Office tools .
- Flexibility to work different hours throughout the week as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose solutions to improve inventory control.
- Must demonstrate safe working practices.
- Team player, able to follow instructions from both management and peers.
Education and Experience:
- Required:
- 3+ years of experience in either inventory control or quality role
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Expected work environment: Office and Manufacturing setting.
- Exposures to loud noises that will require hearing protection.
- Exposure to hazardous materials including but not limited to mica dust, combustible dust, solvent fumes, etc.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts or machinery.
