Contract Dates : January 5, 2026 to June 26, 2026 Desired Qualifications

  • Bus Driver's endorsement (School Bus “S”) class 5 – Chinook will provide training and expense reimbursement to candidates who have not yet obtained an “S” endorsement
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Ability to deal tactfully and cooperatively with public, students, staff
  • Good physical condition
  • Basic computer skills

Duties (may Include But Are Not Limited To)

  • Transporting students safely
  • Daily driving when students are in attendance
  • Daily disinfecting and cleaning of bus
  • Adhere to following safe bus driving procedures
  • Comply with all Personal Protective Equipment Procedures

  • Pay Range: $20.29 - $22.17 per hour + $0.261 per KM (over 80 km driven) and bus expense allowances. All Bus Drivers are deemed to have a four hour work day unless the route is deemed a double route. Double routes will have a 5 hour work day.

  • Once your profile has been created, you need to apply to the “Casual Bus Driver” Job posting.
  • Please attach a signed SGI Driver Abstract Authorization (found ) to your application.
  • Candidates who are successfully shortlisted will be contacted for an interview.
  • Following a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to obtain their “S Endorsement”.

“S” Endorsement Process:

  • Pick up a driver handbook from your local SGI office or the transportation department.
  • Submit a Bus Driver Medical to SGI (you will need to make arrangements with your health care professional to have this document completed).
  • Once the medical is completed and approved, you can book your written exam with SGI.
  • Contact Chinook's Driver Assessor to make arrangements for Chinook Driver Training;
  • Book your road test with SGI.
  • Upon successful completion, submit a copy of your “S” Endorsement certification to Human Resources.

Chinook, encompassing an area of 42 750 square kilometres, is the second largest school division in the province.
