Job Profile Are you interested in helping the citizens of Winnipeg enjoy a positive recreation experience through one of our many arena facilities? We are looking for PUBLIC SKATING MONITORS to be part of our Recreation Services Team!

The City of Winnipeg is currently accepting applications for Public Skating Monitors for various locations throughout the City. All positions are part-time. Hours of work will vary depending on the number of shifts selected. Interested applicants must be willing to work some combination of daytime, evenings; and/or weekends.

As The Public Skating Monitor, You Will

  • Supervise Public Skating on and off the ice.
  • Be skating for 1 hour each shift.
  • Monitor and enforce patron compliance with the rules
  • Maintain necessary reports.
  • Set up and take down/put away equipment.

Your Education And Qualifications Include

  • A Grade 10 education.
  • Required to have strong skating skills; must demonstrate ability to skate forward, backward, and complete a full stop. *(Skating Skill Test will be administered - September 17, 2025).
  • Ability to deal satisfactory with the general public, community groups and staff.
  • Emergency First Aid - Valid 3 years (Photocopy).
  • CPR Level C - Valid 1 Year *must be renewed annually from date of issue (Photocopy).
  • Bilingual (French/English would be an asset).
  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Applicants submitting foreign credentials require an official academic assessment report issued by a recognized Canadian assessment service https://www.canalliance.org/en/ at application.

Conditions Of Employment

  • First Aid & CPR Level C must be valid until March 31, 2026.
  • Be available to work some combination of daytime, evening and/or weekends.
  • A Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector) satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful candidate(s), at their expense. To obtain Police Information Check information please visit www.winnipeg.ca/police.
  • Available between September 2025 – March 2026.
  • Must provide own skates and CSA or all sport approved helmet
