About the role
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Children’s Ambulatory Medical Care, the Registration/Scheduling Clerk is responsible for timely patient registration and processing, providing general clerical support to team members located in the MDATU area, assisting clients and staff as required and scheduling of clinic appointments, both on a requested and discretionary basis. While this position is focused within the MDATU, the clerk will occasionally share registration/scheduling/clerical support to other teams within Children’s Ambulatory Medical Care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Registering patients for MDATU clinic and professional staff appointments, greeting and directing clients; Accurately entering/revising patient information into CWS (Meditech); Completing various health forms as required; Scheduling Immunology Clinic appointments; Scheduling identified MDATU appointments, as required; Receiving and relaying messages via phone and fax and email; Maintaining adequate supplies and orders as needed; Providing general support to clients and staff (requisitioning lab, DI tests/procedures, filing, photocopying, making telephone calls, workload data, etc.).
Hours of Work
Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm
Your Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate from a recognized office administration diploma program preferred.
- Previous experience in registration and scheduling is strongly preferred.
- Experience in an ambulatory health care setting an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
- Basic knowledge of computer programs, including email and MS Word, required.
- Previous experience with Meditech and CWS an asset.
- Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required (skills testing may be conducted on short-listed candidates).
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and initiative required.
- Competency in other languages considered an asset.
