Job Title: Wire Harness Design & Release Engineer Location: Windsor, ON Duration: 12 months contract
Description :The Wire Harness Design and Release Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end design, validation, and release of wiring harness assemblies and associated components for vehicle electrical systems .This role ensures that all design documentation aligns with master models and supports cross-functional activities throughout the product lifecycle—from concept through launch and post-production support .The engineer will collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and quality stakeholders to drive robust design execution, change management, and continuous improvement
. Key Responsibilitie s:Lead and assist in the creation of 3D models and 2D drawings for wiring harness assemblie s.Ensure part drawings and documentation match master models (Model is Master ).Author and validate CCDs, CNs, IAAs, and PERs to meet all engineering and release requirement s.Confirm and justify the necessity of design changes for vehicle program s.Conduct First Piece Sign-Off (FPSO) and support PSO activities in collaboration with Supplier Quality (SQ ).Own and manage GIMs entries, including root cause analysis and corrective action s.Support launch activities at the assembly plant, ensuring readiness and issue resolutio n.Contribute to vehicle/component DFMEA, DVP (with CC validation), FO, and Design Rule complianc e.Review and validate supplier DFMEA and DVP submissions. Actively participate in ACE packaging meetings and scroll review s.Maintain and update PDP documentation and FASTCAR record s.Support complexity chart development (PASD) and compliance reportin g.Provide input for owner's manual imagery and documentatio n.Drive standardization and harmonization of components and engineering document
s. Position Requirements Basic Qualificatio ns:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related fie ld.Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation wiring design, release, or vehicle electrical syste ms.At least 4 years of overall engineering experien ce.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and present high-quality reports and presentatio ns.Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Wor
d). Preferred Qualificati ons:Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineer ing.Formal training in DFMEA, DVP&R, and DFSS methodolog ies.Working knowledge of CAD systems such as NX and Ca tia.Experience with Capital XC for 2D wiring des ign.Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing and wiring harness production environme nts.Understanding of automotive wiring harness drawings and specificati ons.Experience with SharePoint or similar web-based data management platf
