About the role
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill 3 part-time Transitional Support Worker positions within the Housing First Program located within our Southwest Regional Office in Brandon, MB. The Transitional Support Worker is responsible for providing direct support to individuals in a transitional setting, assisting with daily activities, life skill development, and connecting clients to available resources. This is a term position set to end March 31, 2026.
Job Duties/Competencies:

Provide assistance with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, crafting, playing games, completing chores, and accessing resources;

Support individuals in overcoming barriers and developing life skills that promote independence;

Ensure accurate and timely entry of client notes into the HIFIS system by the end of each day;

Monitor client activities including visits outside the primary residence;
-
Undertake documentation, report writing, and other administrative duties as needed;

Monitor for crises as they occur and respond appropriately;

Follow program policies, including workplace health and safety protocols, to maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients and staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency;
- Experience working with mental health and addictions in a support worker capacity is an asset;
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds;
- Understanding or willingness to learn about the 7 Teachings and their application in a supportive role;
- Basic knowledge of HIFIS or similar client case management systems is an asset;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
- Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
