At City of Cambridge Camps, you will have the opportunity to be a part of exciting theme weeks and specialty camps including archery, skating, hockey, dance, swimming, gaming, robotics, outdoor education and so much more! Working for the City means you will make a difference in children’s lives and create lasting memories with campers that will positively impact their lives in the years to come.
What you will be doing
- Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating lessons for all levels of participants in summer camps
- Keep current with industry trends and class form
- Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
- Provide a high level of front-line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
- Interest in and experience working with children ages 4-12
- Understanding the various aspects of child development
- Expresses a caring attitude when working with children
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports)
- Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
- Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor and take appropriate action
- Participates in training/in-service as required, occasionally outside of regular working hours
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience working with all ages in an arena setting
- Proven experience planning, implementing and supervising skating and/or hockey lessons
- Outgoing, enthusiastic and energetic personality
- Self-Motivation and able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment

Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED
We will ask you for these items if you are hired
Current and valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.
Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour
High Five-PHCD Certificate & Standard First Aid, CPR C AED Certificate
Rate of pay
The hourly rate for this position is $17.60 - $35.00 per hour.

- Hespeler Arena
- Cambridge Sports Park
Hours of work
May 1 – September 4, 2026.

Monday – Friday, up to 3 hours per day. Hours depend on weekly registrations at the location and are not guaranteed.

Mandatory training between May 1 – June 26

Camp starts on Monday June 29 and ends on Friday September 4

Camp does not run on July 1 (Canada Day) or August 3 (Civic Holiday)

Mandatory paid training dates/sessions will occur in May/June and mandatory weekly evening staff meetings in July and August, as scheduled by the Recreation Coordinator. Please note that training dates are subject to change.
Per hiring criteria, employees are expected to be available for the entire summer program period (June 29 – September 4).
